it's a beginning...

i know it doesn't look like much, but it is a beginning.  and it is "home sweet home".

piles of dirt, evidence of the basement excavation

cement truck and pump truck, pouring the footings

 the footings, upon which the foundations of the house will rest.

See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
the one who trusts will never be dismayed.
Isaiah 28:16

The rain came down,
 the streams rose,
 and the winds blew and beat against that house;
yet it did not fall,
because it had its foundation on the rock.
Matthew 7:25

although these footings will soon be hidden, first, by a cement floor, and then a wooden frame, walls, and a roof, they are the most important part of the house.  silent and invisible they will hold firm keeping the walls strong and straight.  when the winds and rains come against the house (and they will come), i will be warm and snug and safe inside.

what is the foundation of your life?  are you trusting in things that shift like the sand?  money?  easy come, easy go! your job?   the economy is so unreliable.  people?  they can let you down.  they're only human, after all.  but if you have Jesus, you have the firm foundation.  He is the cornerstone that Isaiah was referring to in his prophecy.  trusting in him will keep you from being dismayed when the circumstances of this world rain down on you.  i am praying that if you do not know Jesus as the foundation and rock of your life, that you would come to know him.  He is the one who will give you peace during the storms in your life.

everyday gift:  a firm foundation

Beautifully written my friend. It was inspiring to read your well-penned words, view the pictures of promise, and listen to Fernando Ortega "Give Me Jesus" all at the same time.

What a wonderful analogy and how comforting to know our "kids" have such wonderful foundations, housewise and Heavenwise! Loveyou, Mom
